Beginning
The Bosler’s journey begins in 2006 in Dundee, Ohio. Jason was introduced to beekeeping by one of his boy scouts from Troop 91. He was intrigued by this unique hobby and decided he wanted to learn more.
Our Education
Jason took as many classes and gathered as much info as he could for the next couple years. Even his wife, Angie, became interested and thought this could become a hobby they could do together. They would soon join a local bee club and from there it wasn’t long for them to buy their first packages of bees.
Swarms
By 2009, Jason had acquired about a dozen or so hives. Occasionally, he would would respond to “swarm calls” from local neighbors who had honey bees in unwanted places. This led to his apiary growing to the point that he started producing enough honey to put into jars. They had first gifted their honey to friends and family, but soon they started going to local farmers markets under the name Bosler Honey Bees.
The Tuscarawas County Fair
Over the last couple years, Angie had found her niche making candles, lip balms and hand cream. When she felt she had perfected her methods, she took her creations to the Tuscarawas County Fair for judgment. She ranked high in each category and because of their success they decided to set up a booth to sell their products at the fair. (And they haven’t missed a year since)
Equipment
By this point in time, Jason had made quite a few connections in the beekeeping world and partnered with a local distributer selling bee equipment and holding small classes for local enthusiasts.
The Great Expansion
The business had only kept growing in the last three years. They were providing quite a few local retail settings with raw honey, holding exclusive classes, and even became keynote speakers at conferences. It had expanded enough that Jason was able to completely buy out Country Bee Supply and begin to sell equipment to beekeepers across Ohio. He had even managed to open a couple sister stores.
Moving
The Bosler’s now had multiple business’ running out of their property. This meant they had outgrown their property in Dundee and were faced with a difficult decision. They ultimately decided to move to Deersville, OH where the bees would have a better water source and more space to fly.
Deersville
The equipment side of the business needed a new home, and luckily there was a vacant building on the main street of Deersville so thus Bosler’s Trail End and Bee supply store was born.
Georgia
A new opportunity arose to solve part of Jason’s problem. Ohio winters made it impossible to grow his colonies further. Therefore, it was time to take his bee circus on the road to warmer weather to pollinate blueberries and oranges.
Florida
After they had befriended various beekeepers and farmers they were able to pick up additional contracts in Florida. This is where they pollinate watermelons. However, due to their busy schedule they were no longer able to keep up with the equipment side of their business. So now their business took a new form, still primarily known for their delicious honey but also pollination.
Currently
Jason and Angie have made a lot of new friends along their travels. Being friendly has always rewarded them, no matter what state they are in. They look forward to spending winter in Georgia and the summer in Ohio.
